| In June, 1844 to Petersburg from long trip abroad the author of well-known "Highest wave", the truth then yet not written, Ivan Konstantinovich Ayvazovsky, the young Russian artist came back. The trip was sated (in its passport there were visas of 135 countries and cities) and is final the interesting. Nature vigorous, active, the person of huge diligence and true talent, Ivan Konstantinovich was full of the bright impressions received by it in four-year-old stay in Italy, France and other West European countries. Especially memorable though also, but having for it special sense the stop in Amsterdam was short. It will remember it till the end of the days. There, in country capital so strong connected with the sea, it exposed the pictures. In the same place to it representing art intelligency of Russia, the honourable and high rank of the academician is solemnly appropriated. The official recognition Dutches of its art was especially pleasant, what exactly in the Netherlands in XVII century has arisen art mariny - the picturesque image of a sea landscape.
Dutch marina has arisen not on an empty place, and became one of branches of the Dutch school of the painting, begun later independent existence. And though Dutches quite often name Â"Chineses of the WestÂ" for that great contribution which they have brought in development of the European industry, agriculture, finance, transport, sciences, nevertheless the most outstanding achievements of the Netherlands nation are presented in art creativity of its best representatives.
Products of masters XVI-XVIII of centuries admire till now spectators. At the Dutch art school generated in this period, made huge impact on all further development of the European art,
The realistic direction prevailed first of all. They - a brilliant galaxy of the Dutch artists - first-ever have managed to make out behind the most every day, prosy and ordinary things a unique charm and beauty. Loftily and poetically telling about this beauty, they have helped also to people to see it. Â"Than all is more entertaining, - great Russian artist V.A.Serov wrote, - so it that you see in a picture see and in the street or in the country. The same cities, the same channels, the same trees on each side, same small, cosy, improbably clean small houses laid out by a dark red brick... Simply you are surprised, how were able then Dutches to tell everything, that saw...Â"
