  •   Explosion of creative thought

But not art uniform the person is live. Explosion of creative thought in "Golden Age" has occurred and in a science. A powerful echo it has come up to now. Yes it and is clear. The bourgeoisie already then, in XVII century, clearly realised, that successful economic development of the country is closely connected with level of achievements of a science, especially in its applied branches. Scientific achievements of the Netherlands not only have found a wide circulation in the world, but also had considerable influence on development of world scientific thought.

To Any schoolboy it is known, for example, Â"lejdenskaja bankÂ" - the first condenser invented lejdenskim by physicist Mjushenbrjukom. The physics now is considered one of the branches of a science most developed in the Netherlands, more precisely, its perspective direction - physics of low temperatures. Cryogenic laboratory at Lejdensky university for a long time - since 1894 the world centre of researches in this direction. Nowadays the laboratory carries a name of its first director - Hejke Kamerling-Onnesa. That which the first in world practice in 1908 has received liquid helium, and in 1911 has opened superconductivity, having found out, that at temperatures, near absolute to zero, mercury practically completely loses electric resistance. Its ideas have been used half-centuries later by the Soviet physicist academician V.L.Ginzburg in search of new approaches to increase of critical temperature of superconductors.

For the outstanding contribution to development of a physical science X. Kamerling-Onnes in 1913 it is awarded by the Nobel Prize. Winners of Nobel Prizes in area of physics among the Netherlands scientists became also X. A.Lorentz and P.Zeeman (1902), I. D van der Vaals (1910), F.Tsernike (1953). Modern achievements of a physical science, thus, lean against strong enough traditions.

In the centre of the Hague on one of its main streets - Lang-Foorhaut - there is a small small house. On its wall the tablet with a reminder what here long time of veins and one of the most talented Dutches of XVII century-konstantjajn Hyojgens (Gjujgens) worked is attached. Nearby from here, on a way from the Hague in Shefeningen, the monument to this Netherlander is established. It was the capable satirist, the poet, but the greatest popularity has received as the mathematician.

However then, in XVII century, its glory his son has eclipsed Christians Hyojgens. It has given to the world a pendulum clock with the trigger mechanism and their theory, has created the wave theory of light, has improved a telescope, has designed an eyepiece named his name, the Titan has opened a ring at Saturn and its companion. It became the author of one of the first works on probability theory. X. Hyojgens - one of the most outstanding scientists of time. Extremely the fruitful versatility of its interests amazes till now descendants.

Opening and workings out X. Hyojgensa would be hardly possible, if were not based on achievements of a mathematical science. In the Netherlands the mathematician and engineer Simon Stevin (1548 1620) which has put into practice in Europe decimal fractions and negative roots of the equations was the most known in this area. It posesses Works in the field of a hydrostatics, navigation, terrestrial magnetism.
