    you are: Activity of Dutches

The life of colonists in New Amsterdam proceeded silently enough, trade was the basic employment. They did not trouble themselves with heavy work, and what for? Already during this period colonists start to use slaves from Southern Africa, though and not in such wide scales, as in the south of North American continent. Moreover, Dutches start to deliver Negroes in New Light, promoting, according to K.Marx, to transformation of Africa in Â"a reserved field of hunting for NegroesÂ". In 1619 to Jamestown the first party of Negroes-slaves has been delivered, and they have been brought by Dutches on the Dutch brig. Within 60 years - with 1640 for 1701 - Dutches possessed monopoly for delivery of slaves in the Spanish colonies. They succeeded in deliveries of "the live goodsÂ" and in a colony of other countries. So, to Brazil black slaves have been delivered for the first time in 1632 by the Dutch ship.

As Shock force of the Netherlands the Vest-Indsky company served in capture and submission of colonies in New Light. The state has been interested in its existence as the special place in company activity was occupied with trade with the Spanish colonies in America that brought enormous profits. Spain could not supply with their necessary goods. At Phillip II, for example, 90 percent of the goods delivered in a colony, have been made not in Spain. Dutches struggled with domination of Spain in this region by means of well debugged system of an illicit trade, using as base the colony on island Curacao. Â"All gold and silver of the Netherlands, - one author in XVIII century wrote, - it turned out from this tradeÂ".

But also it was not the main thing in company activity. Much more important role belonged kaperstvu which was considered during this period as quite normal phenomenon. (English queen Elizabeth I, as is known, encouraged such activity of the citizens generously sharing with it extraction.) Kaperstvo-capture of foreign courts - brought the companies the basic share of incomes. Only during the period with 1623 for 1636 the company has grasped 547 courts (basically Spanish and Portuguese) for a total sum about 40 million guldens. The big influence on balance of incomes the slave-trade bringing the companies high enough profits in gold, and the most important thing - giving the chance to receive from America rendered also salt. The Netherlands economy, fishery was one of which major branches, extremely required salt for salting of a herring and its delivery on internal and a foreign market.
